With a vibrant tone and command of the trumpet and flugelhorn reminiscent of his influences, who include Clifford Brown and Freddie Hubbard, Lukáš Oravec is a sophisticated exponent of the classic jazz repertoire of the 50s and 60s and plays with a maturity beyond his 25 years. Having studied at the Zilnia Conservatory and the
Royal Academy of Music Aarhus in Denmark, Lukáš has become a respected player on the Europe-wide jazz scene and has won the highest awards at numerous competitions, including two categories at the
2012 New Faces of Slovak Jazz.
Joining Lukáš for this performance will be esteemed drummer, Marek Dorčík, also originally from Slovakia and known to audiences as a founding member of The European Union Quartet. With the standout talents of Jamil Sheriff (keyboards) and Pete Turner (double bass) completing the quartet, this promises to be a night of high quality jazz and one not to be missed!
